Dr. Michael and Carol Ann Fielding

Dr. Michael Randolph Fielding and Carol Ann (Priestley) Fielding Married for 58 years, Dr. Michael Randolph Fielding and Carol Ann (Priestley) Fielding passed away in Novato, California. Together they are survived by their children, Mike (Carolyn) Fielding, Mark (Jane) Fielding, Leslie Fielding, and Ahn Fielding. They also left behind grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa, Justin, Jordan, Emily, Katie, Patty, and Keelee. Mike, son of the late Edna Fielding and Michael D. Fielding, and brother to the late Mary Jacobs, is survived by his sisters Kay Beach and Patricia Bettencourt of Veneta, Oregon. Until his death on May 3, 2018, Mike was an enthusiast of philanthropy, music, and fine wine. Born in Eureka, California, he had an accomplished career as a senior partner with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, leading the work with Fortune 500 companies such as the Ford Motor Company and Burlington Resources. He was among the first Americans to acquire International Certified Public Accountant certificates in Japan and Korea, an achievement that has been matched by very few. His many career successes also included serving as the partner-in-charge of the firm's office in Tokyo. Mike attended Humboldt State College (University) and received his BA in 1957, MA in 1962, and Honorary Doctorate in 2008. He was passionate about giving back to communities and contributed to numerous boards and charitable organizations. He served on the Humboldt State University Alumni Board and helped create the University's Advancement Foundation. He also co-founded the Detroit International Wine Auction, which raised $3.4 million in 2017, ranks as one of the top charitable wine auctions in the United States, and is the largest wine auction in the Midwest. Loving wife and mother Carol joined Mike on May 29, 2018. Preceded in death by her parents Mildred Morgan, Tom Morgan, and H.D. Priestley, she is survived by her brother, Barry (Tracey) Priestley, and sister Margit (Paul) Prichard. Former beauty pageant winner (Miss Humboldt, 1955; Arcata High Song Queen, 1955; and HSU Rain Queen, 1957), Carol attended San Jose State University, Humboldt State University, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with distinction (Magna Cum Laude) in 2003 from Seattle University. There will be a celebration of life in Marin County for Mike and Carol on Saturday June 9, 2018, at Inn Marin and Suites in Novato, California at 3:00 pm. There will also be a mass at Sacred Heart Church in Humboldt County at 2:00 pm followed by a reception at the Morris Graves Museum of Art on Saturday June 16, 2018. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Michael and Carol Fielding Endowment at Humboldt State University.
