UPPER SANDUSKY: Gerald R. Frey, age 83, of Upper Sandusky, OH, died at Wyandot Memorial Hospital on Friday October 2, 2009 at 2:20 p.m.
He was born on June 22, 1926 in Kirby to the late Jerome G. Frey Sr. and Mary Ann (Hunkele) Frey.
Gerald married Marie E. Wagner on June 1, 1949 in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Alvada, OH, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
He has 15 children, Kathleen (Russell) Doersam, Forest, Larry (Joyce) Frey, Forest, Darrell (Ann) Frey, Upper Sandusky, Judy (Dale) Rowland, Marion, Norma Jean (Vincent) Rodriguez, Upper Sandusky, Phyllis (Dan) Luikart, Upper Sandusky, LaDonna (Chuck) Roberts, Carey, Maraline (Mark) Thiel, Carey, Carolyn (Dan) Thiel, Upper Sandusky, Harlan (Tina) Frey, Carey, Rodney (Kim) Frey, Upper Sandusky, Carla (Jack) Gottfried, Upper Sandusky, Rosanne (John) Goodrich, Forest, Rex (Nicki) Frey, Upper Sandusky, Joanna (Ryan) Wright, Forest; 74 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; four brothers, Herman (Vivian) Frey, Fred (Carol Sue) Frey, Cyril (Judy) Frey, Norbert (Carol) Frey, all of Upper Sandusky; four sisters, Agatha Thomas, Carey, Miriam Vent, Upper Sandusky, Sister Noel RSM, Lima, Rosalie Pahl, Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin & Jerome Jr. Frey, and Norman & Wilfred who both died in infancy.
He served in the US Navy Veteran during WWII.
Mr. Frey was a devout Catholic and active life member of St. Mary's Catholic Chapel, Kirby, OH. He was the founder and owner/operator of Frey Roofing & Lumber, Kirby, He also was a life time Mifflin Twp. grain & livestock farmer and was an auctioneer.
He was a life member of the VFW. His hobbies included flying his own plane, woodworking, bowling, and riding horses. Mr. Frey enjoyed traveling to the Catholic Holly Lands and throughout the world. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his large family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Chapel, Kirby with Father Bob Dendinger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Kirby with full military honors being conducted by local veterans organizations. Visitation will be on Monday October 5, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. with a Rosary Prayer Service being held at 1:30 p.m. in the BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home.
