Edward Goecke Obituary

AUGUSTA — Edward Allen Goecke, 79, of Augusta passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Mercy Health - The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born Sept. 18, 1944 to his parents, the late Jacob W. and Ethel (neé Hause) Goecke.

Prior to retirement, he worked as a custodian for St. Augustine Church where he was also a member.

He leaves behind several nephews, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his sister-in-law, Judy Goecke.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Jacob W. Goecke, II; his sisters, Betty McClanahan and Evelyn M. Sharp; and his brothers-in-law, Delmar Sharp and Tom McClanahan.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 12 noon at St. Augustine Church in Augusta by Rev. Joseph Shelton.

Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery.

Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home in Augusta.

Memorials are suggested in the form of Masses in care of St. Augustine Church.

So sorry to hear of "Eddie's" passing. That's what I remember him being called, growing up in Augusta and going to St. Augustine, and then later at Augusta High. He was always a nice, polite fellow. My condolences to the family.
