Anthony LaPadula Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Anthony R. LaPadula of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Tony, as his family and friends called him, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the age of 90. Tony was born in the Bronx, New York and was married to his sweetheart, Providence LaPadula, for over 70 years. Tony attended William Allen High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War as a radio repair technician stationed in Turkey. He worked at Western Electric for over 30 years where he rose to the rank of Senior Engineer. He always mentioned education as a way to improve his knowledge and his work skills. He attended night school at Muhlenberg College where he received his Bachelor of Science in Physics. While working at Western Electric, Tony took it upon himself to mentor and teach young engineers. Upon retiring from Western Electric in 1984, Tony loved teaching Physics lab classes at his Alma Mater, Muhlenberg College. He also enjoyed teaching religion (catechism) classes and reading to young students at the Cathedral of St. Catherines where he was a member.

Tony was an avid fan of baseball, especially the New York Yankees. He enjoyed reading, walking, vacation with his wife and family, and sitting in his yard enjoying the weather. He was an amateur astronomer who spent many nights looking at the stars.

Tony is survived by his wife, Providence LaPadula; his son, Victor LaPadula and his wife, Robin; his daughters, Marie (Kessler) and her husband Steve, Theresa Yaindl and Tina LaPadula and her husband Boyd Post. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Bishop Thompson Endowment Scholarship Fund at the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania at PO Box 1430, Allentown, Pennsylvania, 18105.

Mr. LaPadula taught my lab in 1987-88. He was a good instructor and I liked him. He was very straightforward and a nice guy. Tina was in my class. I´m so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to learn about Tony's passing. We were friends at work and he also had a smile on his face. We "debated" over our baseball teams always in a friendly way. I hope your great memories can help you get through this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to the LaPadula family. I was Tony's dental hygienist for 24 years while working at Dr. Burke's office. He was a kind and caring gentleman, who smiled often. May he rest in peace.
