Mr. Tremer was the most memorable and inspiring teacher I ever had. I have thought of him many times over the years: like whenever I am able to read something in Russian; when I was excavating a tomb in Egypt and when my son was studying Chinese language in elementary school. I’ve proudly told my kids about his experience as Pennsylvania’s representative for the teacher in space program - so many times that they are probably tired of hearing about it every time there is a space launch! Now that I am a parent, I realize how lucky I was to have a teacher who gave us such enriching experiences like: working with TRS-80 computers way back in the early 80s; the time our gifted class wrote and filmed our own movie; making and launching our own rockets and meeting new friends from a different country (Belarus). I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Tremer is gone, but he will NEVER be forgotten and his legacy will live in generations of students to come! My sincere condolences to his family and friends!

When this crazy school year started, Mr. Tremer sent a note for me to share with my kids. It was 5 great points of advice about how to live your best life and to keep learning. It’s advice we will keep near and dear to our hearts, and words I hope they share with their kids. He said:
“1 – Always be YOU. My mother always said “Unto your own self be true...”. YOU are really the only person that knows what you, your heart and mind are made of. YOU are YOU.
2 – Always be ready to share that heart and mind with others, and always see what is in THEIR heart and mind.
3 – The world out there is a wonderful, fascinating place. Always have your eyes open to everything. There are millions of wonders that will make your heart dance.
4 – Always be kind. From petting a puppy, to hugging a crying friend, to loving your mother, to helping a stranger...always be kind.
5 – Enjoy life, it is what YOUR heart and soul will make it.
Good luck in your studies... there are a lot of neat things to learn!!! Did you know that the hummingbird is the only bird that can fly backwards? That's neat!”
He will be missed, but Shana reminded us today that he’s still with us: in the sky, the stars, the trees. I’m so thankful to have reconnected with him as an adult, and grateful he made me feel important when in HS.
Deepest condolences to Janet, Shana, and all who loved him from the entire Lanning-Minett family: Ami, Val, Lilly, Jayla and Zaiden

I am so sorry for your loss - I was one of the 44 students who went on the Soviet Union trip in 1988 - I cherish the memories of that trip and actually became a history teacher. I remember Mr. Tremer as a kind teacher who worked to include everyone.
