Iris D. Cuevas

Iris D Cuevas, 91, of Bethlehem Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Iris was born on July 8, 1930 in Corozal, Puerto Rico to the late Rafael Virella and Consuelo Gracia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, the late Deacon Rafael Cuevas, Sr.

Iris will be lovingly remembered for dedicating her life to serving others. There are countless stories of her selflessness and kindness and she earned recognition for this service from the Spanish Council. She was a devout catholic and a very active parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church. Iris was a member of La Cofradía del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Cursillo movement, Marriage Encounter, and she volunteered at church picnics; many times, with her husband who was a permanent deacon at the church. Iris loved spending time with her family and friends and was a presence wherever she went.

Iris will be dearly missed by her sons, Rafael Cuevas and wife, Patricia, Timothy Cuevas, and Samuel Cuevas; daughters, Millie Matos and husband, Edwin, and Deborah Feliciano and husband, Anthony; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and she is survived by two brothers.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Masks are encouraged upon entry. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 followed by burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
