Lawrence Weisbrod Obituary
Dr. Lawrence Weisbrod, 93, passed away on Sunday, June 20 at Lehigh Valley Hospice. Dr. Weisbrod worked for many decades as an orthopedic surgeon in Allentown. Born on April 6, 1917, Mr. Weisbrod graduated from NYU Medical School in 1942 and was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy as a doctor in the North Atlantic. Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gertrude; his daughter, Ann; his stepsons, Irwin and Leonard, brother Ferdinand; sister, Juanita; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

It was not widely known, I believe, but Larry was the orthopedist who was part of the team that did the first successful re-attachment of a severed hand at the Allentown Hospital. After he put the bones back together, I restored the arteries and veins and Andy Heffernan repaired tendons and nerves. The hand survived and was reasonably functional. The patient was happy with the result. I have always been thankful for Larry's orthopedic skills.
