Lynn Scheitrum Obituary

Scheitrum, Lynn NovickLynn Novick Scheitrum, 58, of Macungie, passed away in her home on Wednesday, July 23, surrounded by her loving family. While accomplished in business, she'll be forever known to her family and her community as a loyal friend and mother, whose smile brought light to every day. The Lehigh University MBA (1982) spent 32 years helping to shape lives at Air Products & Chemicals, also serving as a leader at Skills USA, a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to build a skilled American workforce. Each day, she looked at a note on her desk that said, 'In 100 years, it won't matter how big my house was or the car I drove, but the difference I made in the life of a child.' She played a key role in the Emmaus High School Three-Point Club and in constant support of Lower Macungie Youth Association sports. In 2007, she led the Coaches vs. Cancer basketball tip-off event at Emmaus, raising a then-record contribution to the American Cancer Society for a CvC event in the state of Pennsylvania. She freely lent a hand, her heart, her soul and her smile to all she met, and she will be missed. Survivors: Lynn, a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, is survived, and her love carried on, by her husband, Carl, 58; her children Kristin, 24, and Kevin, 28, and his wife, Tay McEvers, 29; her mother, Doris Novick; and her brother, Scott Novick and his family. Services: A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Avenue, Allentown, PA. A public viewing will be held at Bachman, Kulik and Reinsmith Funeral Home at 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown, PA on Sunday, July 27 from 4-7 p.m. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Johns Hopkins Center for Biliary Cancer research, at https://secure.jhu.edu/form/pathol; the Allentown Humane Society and/or the Sixth Street Shelter.

Deepest condolences on the loss of Lynn. I worked with her at AP and she was one of the nicest people around. I remember working with her at a Day of Caring at the 6th Street Shelter a few years back. She truly enjoyed being there knowing she was helping others. I'll never forget the curtains that were made out of sheets and a stapler. It sounds ridiculous, but she got it to work and they actually looked good hanging up.
Remember all the good times. I'm sure there are so many of them.

Carl,Kristin,Kevin,Tay,
Your mother was a very special person. I always enjoyed the many discussions we had together. Kristin, your mother and I discussed in detail your basketball career with the ups, downs and injuries. Kevin ,we also talked about some of your experiences in Boston including catching a ride with questionable individuals. I also can recall telling her how I really liked her new haircut/style. She said no one in her family noticed and we both laughed. I always felt Lynn made my day better. The memories I have of Lynn are forever. My prayers are with all of you. Larry Allen

What a magnificent woman to have walked among us; she touched everyone she came in contact with in a very special way. Plus, her smile could brighten Broadway. There was an inner beauty too, with grace as her aura. She was truly an angel among us. And now she has joined their ranks. As angel mom, she will continue to guide and help her family and friends. To Carl, Kristin, Kevin, Tay, Doris and Scott, you will feel her energy around you, warm and loving and immediate. You'll find yourself asking "What would Lynn do?" and the answer will be right there, she will be whispering in your ear. Soar high with angels dear friend. One love, Kathy
