Marlene Miller Obituary

On August 29, 2018, the world lost some of its beauty and a lot of its gentleness. Marlene Miller, my beloved sister and my greatest fan, passed from this life on that day. She was born in Bethlehem to the late John and Helen Shivek. She graduated from Liberty High School and had an accomplished career at Bethlehem Steel. After retiring, Marlene held a variety of fulfilling jobs that she enjoyed. She had a love for flowers and gardening and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and any critter who made a home in her garden. She was an avid animal lover and had two very spoiled fur babies, Tommy and Lila. Marlene will be remembered for her warm, engaging personality, for her sense of style, and most of all, for her devotion to her family. Love is what she did best. Marlene will be forever cherished and missed by all of us who knew and loved her. Survivors: Marlene is survived by her sister, Eileen Sunday of Center Valley; sister-in-law, Linda Shivek of Nazareth; nephew, Justin Shivek of Bethlehem; and niece, Julie Madeira of Saylorsburg. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Volkmann, and her brother, John Shivek. Services: Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 5, in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, 18018, where friends may call from Noon until time of services. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Animals in Distress, 5075 Limeport Pike, Coopersburg, PA 18036, or animalsindistresspa.org; or to Keystone Warriors, 16 E. Marlene was a dear, dear friend. She always had a kind word for everyone and made everyone around her feel special. Marlene had such class and she made anywhere she was a more beautiful place. She was taken from this life far too soon and will be missed terribly by all who knew her. God has surely created a very special place in Heaven for her beautiful soul.

I was so sorry to see that Marlene has passed. I worked with Marlene at Bethlehem Steel and I enjoyed her zest for life. She was always laughing and smiling, she certainly always made me feel uplifted. My thoughts of Marlene are always pleasant ones, she just had a way to make everyone feel special. She will be truly missed. My deepest sympathies to her family.

My prayers and sympathy go out to Marlene's family. Marlene graduated from high school with me and we reconnected at Bethlehem Steel. It was always great to see her at our monthly retiree breakfast. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and will be missed by many. REST IN PEACE

My Deepest Sympathy to Marlene's family. I have been friends with and loved Marlene for 40 plus years. We laughed and cried together, we shopped and returned items together. We supported each other always. She will always be my best friend. I will see her again!

Marlene was my cousin, whom I've not had contact with for many, many years. She was a beautiful woman -- great photo choice, Ilene! -- and, evidently, lovely in her heart as well.

Marlene came to our Bethlehem Steel Billing breakfasts. She would take home the uneaten bread and pancakes to feed to the squirrels and birds. I just got an email from her on August 25 thanking us for remembering her birthday. We will all miss her. She was a sweet lady.

Marlene was a great friend in my life and we lost touch for a long time. I
Will always think of her fondly as will my daughters, Kristie and Jessica. She was a lovely lady.

Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. They live on in the kindness they have shared and the love they brought into our lives.

Someone as special as Marlene will never be forgotten. She will remain in our hearts forever.
