Heard about Mike's passing just a few days ago- what a terrible loss.
First ran into Mike back in what, '94? I know that the only reason I survived 6th grade was because Mike had my back. He had an ability to make you take a step back and start laughing at everything. Though we lost touch since high school, he's one of the few people in the world you can't say a bad word about. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and daughter- though they should know they are blessed to have had such a special kid amongst them for as long as he was.

Joe and Alex, I want you to know that I share your pain on the passing of Micheal. Time has passed but the hole in my heart will remain. I find comfort in knowing that Micheal is with his Aunt Beverly and his pop pop ,Jay.I know they will take good care of him. With a little luck someday I may join my family again. I look forward to that happening. Love You and GOD bless.

Uncle Ray.

Joe and Alex,

Michael is truly a gift to my family - an encouragement to my father, a friend to my aunt! I am so very happy that we met. I told him that my family would adopt him... and, of course, Aunt Alice did right away. We are so lucky to have him in our family.

I will always remember his bright, saucy smile! Thanks for sharing him with us.

love, Amy

Mike was my first friend in a new school during yet another transition in my life. Being one of few black kids Mike made it a point to be friendly. He didnt know it wasnt a first time for me being in the mass minority and he didnt care. We had great times at my house, going to church, playing basketball to just having fun during flex. He was a loyal and good friend with a good heart. He is missed by many. God bless my friend. May the Lord give your family his peace that passes all understanding.

I knew Mike through one of his best friends in high school..Josh Lutterschmidt... even though I only knew him a little, Mike left the impression of a warm, gentle and caring guy..and funny. To his family..I am so sorry for the loss you all have endured! Loosing someone so great must be so hard, but always remember that you will meet up with him again one day! Josh and myself have tried several times to contact Mike but had no sucess...and then to hear that he was ill and passed on was a complete shock! His daughter is a spitten-image of Mike and she is absolutly beautiful! Im sure she will remember Mike... he leaves that kind of impression!

In my deepest sympathy to all of Mike's family, and friends!

With Love...

Jessi

Joe and Alex,

The first time I met Mike his positive attitude encouraged me to struggle on. That day was one of the lowest points in my life. Mike helped me stand up and struggle against my cancer. Through the few months of our friendship I never saw that encouraging spirit fade. I miss him. I am so glad that the Lord Jesus put us together in that hospital room so that we could be a blessing to each other.

This was a sign in the hospital in Lawton Oklahoma. Mike was in there April of 2005. He would laugh at the thought that people down there had to be told this !! LOL

To Mike's Family:

I met Mike in 6th grade I believe it was the first year he was at Northwestern, and we became friends immediately. We even went to the 6th grade dance together. He was such a great person and friend. He would do anything for anybody. After high school we really didn't keep in touch and I'm sorry about that. He made school fun! I'm so sorry to hear about his illness and battle but now he is in a better place, no suffering. I'm so glad he got to experience being a father before he passed away, and his daughter is beautiful. You can see so much of Mike in her. I'm glad I got to know Mike. He will be watching over you all until you can join him. God Bless, and you are all in my prayers.

Your Friend,

Kim

Dear Joe, Alex, and family,

We have always felt like it was a "God appointment" when Mike became Malcom's roommate at the hosptial last August. We developed a friendship with Mike then which spread to our whole family. Malcom and I feel blessed to have known him and to be instrumental in helping him find peace about his eternal destiny. We KNOW we will see him again someday! Mike had a great outlook in spite of the cancer. We all knew he loved his little girl too. He was a wonderful Daddy and a good friend. Love and prayers always,

Carol and Malcom

Everyone PLEASE check out the photo gallery !! Some GREAT pictures of my boy and his family!!

I was lucky enough to be able to spend the last two and a half months with Mike in Missouri before his passing. His mom and I , his Uncle Ray,along with MANY friends such as Malcom, Carol, his "Aunt" Alice and thier complete family, stood by him and helped in anyway they could. We have a second family now.

Mikes daughter is and will always be what he was here for. She is a REAL Daddy's girl and we will make sure she never forgets him. Our love will always be with our son and also know that one day we will be with him again. He will ALWAYS be in our hearts, Mom & Dad

To my second parents!

Mike was my first love but always my best friend.I learned so much from him and gained so much just by knowing him. He brought me to you and showed me how to love. I miss him so much and he will always be in my heart. I will always remember him in so many ways. And I know that one day I will be able to see him again.

I love you!

Michael became part of my family in August 2005, but quickly was endeared to all of us. We were by his side during the good days and the bad days. His smile and "how ya' doin sweetie" always lightened my heart. I miss him very much but know that I will see him again someday. Meanwhile I will keep watch over Kaylie for him. To Alex and Joe...remember the good times. When you think of him...bring to your heart the love and happiness he brought you. "Aunt" Alice Hursh

To Michael's family and friends. I was a friend and classmate of Mike's and was saddened to hear the news of his death. Just the other day friends of mine were talking about the good old days in high school and how much we miss Mike. He was a great person and so much fun to be around. It was a surprise to hear of him being ill and even more so to know that he has since passed. He will be missed greatly.
