Richard F. Mack, 87, of Bethlehem Township, died Sept. 8 in Country Meadows, Bethlehem. Born June 2, 1917, in Bethlehem Township, he was a son of the late J. Herbert and Lizzie (Koutz) Mack. A lifetime resident of Northampton County, he was a 1934 graduate of Bangor High School and a 1941 graduate of Penn State University. He worked as a metallurgist, sales representative and product manager for 36 years for Bethlehem Steel Corp. before retiring in 1977. His wife of 58 years, Anna M. Stocker, predeceased him in January of 2003. He was an active member of AARP Chapter 2144, serving in many offices and on the board of directors. He played baseball in both the Blue Mountain and East Penn leagues. He and his wife were avid golfers for many years. Survivors: Stepson, Richard F. Cortazzo of Palmer Township; sister, Pearl Menhennit of Riverside, Calif.; four stepgrandchildren, four stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Earl and Raymond, and sisters, Alberta Seibert and Ada Dunbar. Services: memorial, to be announced by Ashton Funeral Home, Easton.

I knew Mr. Mack for only a short time. However, in that time, I was touched by his bravery and forebearance. I know that he was a very special man who was loved dearly by his family. I send my thoughts and prayers to them.
