Wayne Evans Obituary

Wayne G. Evans, 88, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023. Born in Allentown, PA on June 17, 1935; he was the son of Gordon and Isabelle Evans.

He graduated from Allentown High School in 1953, where he met his wife, Mary Louise (Barto). They had four children, Scott D., Suzanne L. (Schollenberger), Jeffrey W., and Lynne D. (Grom).

He is survived by his wife, four children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and his sister, Ruth N. Feltman. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Benjamin D. Evans.

He worked in sales in the insurance and welding industries and retired from Metal Welding and Supply in 2005.

Wayne could always be found wherever his children and grandchildren were participating in activities. Along with being a family man, working with young people was his passion. He taught flute and piccolo lessons for many years and was a member of the Allentown Band. He was very active in the Lehigh Valley Soap Box Derby Association with his children and many others. He was a Little League baseball coach and umpire with Southern Lehigh Little League, and served as an umpire for the Allentown Patriots softball program for many years.

Mr. Evans was my flute teacher in Emmaus and successfully got me through "The Flight of the Bumblebee "!! I learned a lot from him. May he rest in peace.
