Pearl Gouge Martin

Pearl Gouge Martin, 94, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2021.

A native of McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Genett Gouge Hollar.

Pearl was retired from Burlington Industries and was an active member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for 25 years.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Carl W. Martin.

Saddened by this loss are two daughters, Patricia Elliott and Betty M. Jackson (Joe); three grandchildren, Jeff Kelly (Vandera), Kim Burkett, and Chris Elliott (Christine); and four great-grandchildren, Brittany Francher (Drew), Blake Burkett, Mason Elliott, and Connor Elliott.

A private service will be held, and burial will be at McDowell Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Burton and his staff for the excellent care they gave their mother.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your church or the American Cancer Society.

Pearl and Carl were very good friends of my parents and I was blessed to know them and eat at Hook and Anchor on many Friday nights! So sorry for your loss.
