James Rabun Obituary

James Patrick Rabun, born January 5, 1931, in Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, with his sons by his side, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication. He was the beloved son of Charles Luther Rabun and Sallie Lou Rabun, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Luther Rabun Jr. and Robert Rabun, and is survived by his sister, Sally Rabun.

James was the devoted husband of Mildred Rabun and a proud father to James Patrick Jr. and Zachary Lee Rabun. A loving grandfather, he cherished his six grandchildren-Katie, Zack, Anne, Sarah, Sally, and Brad-and was a beloved great-grandfather to ten: Hunter, Xander, Mackenzie, Lilly, David, Liberty, Ella, Sofia, and Tysson. His family was his greatest joy, and he never missed an opportunity to share a story or offer his wisdom.

James was a proud graduate of Georgia Tech and went on to serve his country in the military as part of the Chemical Corps. Following his service, he built a successful career as a sales man for Yancey Brothers before retiring to pursue his passion, opening a gun shop alongside his son Zack.

A true people person, James never met a stranger. He was a natural storyteller, a dedicated outdoorsman, and a man who valued hard work, integrity, and family above all else. Whether he was talking guns, sharing laughs, or simply lending a helping hand, he left an impression on everyone he met.

His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing that his stories, wisdom, and unwavering spirit will never be forgotten.

A funeral service in his honor will be held at Mayes Ward Dobbins Historic Marietta Chapel on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The graveside burial will take place at Campground Cemetery after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to come support the family Gunshop in commemoration of him and keep his memories alive.

Just learned of Pat´s passing today 3/22, certainly sad news. I would like to extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family. We were cousins, my mother and his mother were Gramling sister´s.
