Mr. Richard Arthur Rabun, 78, of Hephzibah, GA, husband of Candace Williams "Candy" Rabun, entered into rest on Monday, September 23, 2024.
Born in Chatham County, GA, the son of the late Arthur and Waudena Williamson Rabun, he graduated from Leavelle-McCampbell High School in 1964. He proudly and with honor served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard.
He began his career as a Carpenter with the former E.I. DuPont Company and later retired from Bechtel.
Richard had a "Need for Speed." He loved building cars and racing them. He was a proud member of the NHRA. Richard also enjoyed riding his Harley. He was often found riding his tractor and was known for keeping an immaculate yard.
Richard is loved and will always be in the hearts of his wife, Candy Rabun; children, Michelle (Johnathan) Mims, Timothy Rabun, and Angie (John) Sanford, Candy's children, who Richard loved as if they were his own, Heath (Elizabeth) Shelton, Heather Shelton and Holly (Brian) Clements, a brother, Don (Robin) Rabun, grandchildren, Kelsey (Brendan) Spears, Emily Mims, Rhetta Sanford, Jake Sanford, Handley Shelton Hollin Shelton and Max Clements, a great-granddaughter, Sara Birdie Spears, nephews, Brian (Shannon) Rabun, Jason (Carla) Rabun and Brandon (Megan) Jensen, several great-nephews and nieces and his bud, Tommie (June) Morrison.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Thursday, September 26, 2024, beginning at 12:30 at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Dexter Lambert will officiate. By his wishes, Richard was cremated.
Memorials in memory of Richard may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (www.stjude.org)
