John Guthrie Obituary

John Paul Guthrie, Sr. (November 4, 1935 - September 26, 2023)

John loved his God, his family, and his country. He was also a lover of fast cars, fast food, and good friends.

John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. While we will miss him down here, we know he is rejoicing to be in Heaven with his Savior and his beloved wife Peggy, hopefully drinking coffee. He is survived by his son John Paul Guthrie, Jr. (Robin), daughter Lori Fuller (Brett), grandchildren Michael Ballmann, Brittany Whitaker (Ben), Chris Ballmann (Courtney), Caroline and Abigail Fuller, great-grandchildren Sawyer and Grady Whitaker and Wells and Shepherd Ballmann. A visitation from 2:00-3:00 and a funeral service from 3:00-3:30 will be held at Acworth United Methodist Church. A brief graveside service will be held at Winkenhofer-Pine Ridge Memorial Park following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in John's honor to the AUMC Food Pantry.

John and Peggy were such an important influence on my life while I was at AUMC. I watched Lori grow up and felt the Guthrie´s support during difficult times. My prayers to out to the entire family, Lori. May God grant you peace and comfort. Love, Jan Crowell

He was dearly loved. My Mom had a gleam in her eyes whenever she talked about her brother.
