Mary Jane Strickland

Mary Jane (Kantz) Strickland, of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was 97. Mrs. Strickland was born April 14, 1928, in Atlanta to Kenyon Wilfer and Marie (Hickman) Kantz. She spent a lifetime pouring into her children and grandchildren. For nearly 20 years, she was at home for children Susan, Sally, and Aaron. In 1972, she returned to the workforce to manage the family's arts and crafts store. After the store closed, she performed administrative work, retiring when late husband A.G. (2018) retired in 1990. She and A.G. enjoyed traveling and stepped on six continents and visited dozens of places in the United States during her lifetime. She was a member of the Town & Country Junior Woman's Club and later in life a member of many embroidery guilds in Cobb County. An avid reader and bridge player, she was also busy and active in the Methodist Church, worshipping, studying the Bible, and playing bells for many years. She and A.G. attended the Jack Aaron Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church, Marietta. She is survived by children Susan, Sally Butts (Mike) and Aaron III (Erin); grandchildren Michael Butts (Rachel), Christopher Butts (Rachel), Kenyon Strickland and Katie Strickland. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Services will be at Southern Cremation Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Highway on Saturday, May 3 at 11:00. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 - 11:00.
