Ralph M. "Skip" Jones

1939 - 2014

Ralph "Skip" M. Jones, Jr., of Mendocino, died on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 in Payette, Idaho, where he had been spending time with a lady friend, Laura. Born on April 15, 1939, in San Francisco, California, to Ralph and Helen Jones, he was 75.
Skip grew up in Albion and attended Mendocino schools. He spent his career as an electrician and later in life started Mendocino Water Co.
Skip served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960 on the USS Richard Bonhomme. He returned to Mendocino and was a lifetime resident. He served for many years as a volunteer fireman with the Mendocino unit.
He is survived by his children, Wendy (Mike) Norman, Wayne (Melanie) Jones and Dan (Melissa) Jones; grandchildren, Wayne, Katelyn, Brad, Colton, Emma; stepgrandchildren, Tucker, Travis, Trevor; great-grandchildren, Hailee and Deegan; and his sister, Barbara (Bob) Zunino, and sister-in-law, Brenda.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen and Ralph; brother, Robert; and wife, Helen.
Skip was a gentle, considerate, genuine man and would drop what he was doing to help out a friend. He will truly be missed by all.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Mendocino Fire House.

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Bob Coates and Heather Ruth, both from Idaho. Bob, your weekly trips to the doctors and many hours of conversation really meant a lot to Dad. And Heather, you were our gift from God to look out after our Dad when we couldn't be there.
