Darlene Rose Wright "Nana" a lifelong resident of Atwater passed away Friday, February 7, 2014. Darlene was born November 20, 1942 to Joseph and Dorothy Cotta. She graduated from Atwater High School as part of the first graduating class. She worked for Heller's Pharmacy, Davis Cannery and finally at Aileen Colburn School for 25 years. She will be remembered for her absolute love for children. In her spare time she enjoyed going to sporting events, trying her luck at Table Mountain Casino, and taking trips to the coast. Darlene was a great cook and she passed on her talent to her granddaughter.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, David Wright, 2 children; Danny Wright and Donna Wright both of Atwater, 2 sisters; Danielle Lightner and Joetta Cotta both of Merced, her aunt; Rosie Hamilton of Atwater, granddaughter; Deborah Avila and 8 great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Martin and fathers Dave Martin and Joseph Cotta. Also her granddaughter, Denise Martinez who passed away in 2007.
Friends and family are welcome to attend memorial services on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11 AM at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Atwater with burial to follow at Winton District Cemetery.

First my prayers go out to Dave (Perk) ,Donna , Danny & Debbie.I will truly miss seeing u in your yard or driving by.I can go back to when she would allow all Danny's friends come over to watch Speed Racer in morning before school.Then when my daughter went to Aileen Coulburn she made sure she ate enuff and was feeling ok .then going to Hopeton June 24 every year for sopas and we find her and grandma Dorothy for their pickles n onios.All the fights she broke up at park .To me she was part of Atwater.It will never be the same going thru the park nor walking down Herman St.Darlene you are and will be missed by far more people then myself.You touched so many lives with your love for kids.Dave Donna Debbie Danny thanks for the memories of certain NaNa moments..May god bless u all. ......And Steve I'm also thinking bout you my friend as you have known her as long.....A very long time friend .

Nana. I cannot believe this. I remember you when I was little at Aileen Colburn. I am now 28. And I still remember you. Always with a smile on your face. Thank you for taking care of all us kids. You will live in our heart forever. Thank you for keeping us company when we lost our recess and had to sit on a number. You were truly a blessing and were a great role model. I am blessed, because I got to know you. Thank you for everything Nana.
