Gary Vail Obituary

At 6'4”, strangers would look up to Gary because of his size; but for those of us fortunate enough to know him, looked up to him because he was such a loving man. Not only was he willing to love others but it easy was for others to love him in return. He held a deep appreciation for the love of his life, Laura, his wife, and for his children, Kristin, Chad, Lynette, Garion and Tyler and grandchildren Chloe and Paige. He was a devoted son to his parents Larry and Janie, and an inspiration to his little brother Jeff and wife Sherry. He was also survived by his grandparents Burl and Pearl Bays and his two nieces Jennifer and Allison.
He was an accomplished business owner along with his wife of Merced Hydroponics. Those who visited his store were greeted with a smile and favorite catch phrase “Get your grow on”.
He always said he felt closest to God when riding his Harley and having the wind blowing on his face. His other joys of life included supporting his youngest sons' musical education, precious time with his grandchildren and family alike, and held a special fondness for camping at Eagle Meadows.
For those people that had the opportunity to know Gary, realized what they've lost; for those who never got to know him will never understand what they've missed.
He was a strong man with a gentle touch….our Gentle Giant.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8th, at 4:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 2618 Fine Road, Modesto, CA.
A savings account has been established for his son Tyler, to help further his musical education. In lieu of flowers please send remembrances to Westamerica Bank, 550 W. Main Street, Merced, CA 95340, Attention: Tyler Vail.
