Johnny Simons

1939 - 2025

Johnny Mack Simons, 86, passed away on October 22, 2025, in Le Grand, California.

Born on August 3, 1939, Johnny led a life marked by hard work, devotion, and a deep connection to his community. Over the years, he held many roles-gas station owner, dairy milker, aircraft mechanic, plant electrician, plant manager, satellite store business owner, and pastor-each reflecting his tireless spirit and commitment to service.

Johnny was a man of many passions. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed time on his houseboat. He also embraced the land as a rancher and farmer and once rode in rodeos. His love for the outdoors and hands-on work was matched by his dedication to faith through his involvement with Harvest Two Outreach church.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Debra Simons; sons Shawn Simons and Shannon Simons; daughters Cala Riebe, Regina Ramos, and Rachelle Hawkins; grandchildren Shawna Simons, Chantal Simons, Heather Moore-Daffron (married to Josh Daffron), Vanessa Valdivia (married to Sal Valdivia), Jonathan Riebe (married to Madison Riebe), Steven Hawkins Jr., Gabriel Hawkins, and Natalie Hawkins; and great-grandchildren Emma Moore, Jentzen Moore, Uriah Moore, Miklo Valdivia, Annie Valdivia, Grabriella Valdivia, and Elliana Valdivia. He is also remembered by nieces Megan Ables and Amanda Matus; great-nephew Kenneth Ables; and great-niece Annabelle Ables.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Simons; mother Mary Mae Bowen Simons; brothers Chuck and Doyle; and sister Cathy.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Harvest Two Outreach Church, 161 E. 16th St., Merced, CA 95340.
