Susan Keller Obituary

Susan Lynn Keller

December 3, 1959 - February 9, 2025

Lincoln, California - Susan Lynn Keller, a lifelong resident of Atwater, California, was born on December 3, 1959, in Osseo, Minnesota. She passed away on February 9th in Roseville, California, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Susan dedicated her life to education, touching countless lives as an esteemed Anatomy and Biology professor at Merced Junior College. She loved teaching anatomy to her students and was passionate about imparting knowledge to the next generation.

Beyond her dedication to teaching, Susan found joy in making crafts and playing golf with the Niners at Merced Golf and Country Club. These hobbies brought her immense happiness and provided cherished moments of relaxation and creativity.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph L. Keller; her children Tami Keller-Clinite (Jake), Joseph R. Keller (Darcie), and David W. Keller (Megan); and five adoring grandchildren, Joel, Aubrey, Abigail, Quinn, and Sutton. Susan is also survived by her sister, Cindy Crabb (Nelson). She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Marlene Hillman and Richard Hillman.

A celebration of Susan's life will be held at Wilson's Family Funeral Home in Atwater on March 3rd at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Atwater Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Merced College Foundation in Susan's honor, supporting the institution she devoted her life to. Susan's legacy of love, knowledge, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, colleagues, and students.

Susan and I go way back. When her family first came to town our teacher at Shaffer School asked me to show her around and we became fast friends.
So many memories growing up that I will always cherish....
I remember when she first met you, Joe. (Without saying it I could tell she was crazy about you.)

Susan excelled at many things and I'm sad that she could not spend her retirement years sharing all of her gifts with her grandchildren. She told me that was her plan well before the first grand baby came along.
Joe, Tami, Joe Jr and David I know Susan (is) very proud of her family and she will always be looking over your shoulder giving you that extra umpf you need to help reach your goals and get you through life's rough patches.(She's at the top of her game again in Heaven.)

Susan, say hello to Marlene and Richard and save me a place at the table!
Love,
Peggy

We are greatly saddened at the news of Susan´s passing. Susan WAS a great asset to the science department at Merced College. She was passionate in her work with students, many of whom, especially nursing students, we shared. They always spoke highly of their classes that had with Susan. Certainly the success of the Biology Dept. to this day continues due to her instructional modeling and the support she provided to the younger faculty members. I miss you Susan!
