Carma Joelea Dreyfus

1961 - 2022

Carma Joelea (Herring) Dreyfus passed away November 3, 2022 surrounded by loved ones in her home in Morgan Hill, CA.Carma was born on August 20, 1961 in Seattle, WA to Carol and Marjorie Herring (née Welsh), and was the youngest of eight children of a blended family. She moved to the southern Bay Area in her mid-twenties to work in a group home and to work on her master's degree in education. During her final year at San Jose State University, she met her husband James with whom she had two sons and made a home in Morgan Hill. Carma was an avid educator, gardener, and entertainer. She was a teacher at adult schools in Morgan Hill and Watsonville as well as a counselor at Central High School. She helped to develop/maintain the gardens at Paradise Valley Elementary, and St Catherine's Catholic Schools. And she was a professional clown. She would sometimes ride her unicycle in the Morgan Hill 4th of July parade.She is survived by her husband, James, her sons, Iestyn and Isaac, and her siblings: Mark, Scott, Wanda, Eileen, Eric, Robin, and Marcy.
