We were a young married couple and neighbors of Fred and Elsie as we started out in our first home on Locust Street. They were so loving to our twin daughters, born in 1983. We moved "home" to Arizona in 1985. We remained in contact, even after Elsie passed away. When "Grampa Fred's" letters no longer arrived, we could only assume that he too had passed away. I didn't have any information about his passing until I found his obituary this evening. My condolences arrive many years late, but Fred and Elsie remain in our hearts. We loved them and still hold their memory dear. May they rest in peace.

This goes back 30 years. I was a neighbor of Fred and Elsie for about seven years. Great guy. Can't say enough about him. Big heart. Very generous. Everyone that knew Fred felt that way. As he told it, he got the first FHA loan in the county. In 1939 he moved his possessions to the site of his future home in a wheel barrow. He spent his career as a cabinet maker at Pacific Mfg. in Santa Clara. God Bless him.
