Joseph Noonan Obituary

Joseph (Joe) Tyler Noonan
April 19, 1974 - August 2, 2022
Resident of San Jose
Joseph T. Noonan, age 48, of San Jose died in the early morning of August 2, 2022, having been surrounded all day by friends and family telling stories, sharing memories, and toasting Jerry Garcia's 80th birthday. Joe bravely and gracefully endured treatment for Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) by the skilled team at Kaiser Santa Clara for over a year.
A living spark, breathing light into everything he touched, Joe created a warm welcoming space for everyone. He was a visionary who always saw potential and what could be, instead of what was. There wasn't a hand in the room he wouldn't shake or a problem he wouldn't try and solve, whether you were a stranger or his best friend. An eternal optimist, Joe was always looking for ways to connect folks to one another to grow as a collective, especially to benefit his beloved community of San Jose.
Born in Pennsylvania and raised in Elmhurst, Ill, outside of Chicago, Joe's family moved to San Jose where he attended Rogers Middle School, and Prospect High School. He spent a memorable year at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo before returning to the Bay Area to work at NAVTEQ and continuing his studies. Joe honed his negotiation and people skills at a variety of tech companies (Cisco Systems, JDS Uniphase, SPI Lasers, G2Planet) for 17 years before devoting his professional abilities and charm to promoting the people and places of the City of San Jose. Broadway San Jose, San Jose Downtown Association, Christmas in the Park, City of San Jose Viva Calle & Viva Parks & San Jose Al Fresco, the Twohy Building, and the Bay Area Furniture Bank benefited from his vision, leadership, and tireless energy. He volunteered with One Step Closer Therapeutic Riding, Hunger at Home, and Perseverance Preparatory School.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline C. Noonan (Amody) and is survived by his father Joseph F. Noonan; his sister Jennifer N. Smoker, her husband Lonnie, and his nephew Isaac; his uncle Kenneth Noonan, his wife Ruthanne, four cousins and their families.
Please join the Noonan family, Downtown SJ community and friends on Thursday, August 18 from 5:30 â€" 8:30 pm for a public celebration in Downtown to gather and share your favorite memories of Joe. More details about the location and the event will be published soon.
Friends and family are also welcomed to make donations of any amount to one of two charities Joe passionately endorsed - Hunger at Home and the Bay Area Furniture Bank.

I went to prospect high school with Joe Noonan. Took a pic with Joe at the homecoming dance together. I lost the pic. I'll never forget Joe Noonan ever. Rip my friend
