Michael Lombardo Obituary

Michael Joseph Lombardo
Sept. 6, 1978 - Sept. 19, 2013
Resident of Pleasanton
A resident of Pleasanton, Mike was the eldest of three sons born to Anthony and Pamela Lombardo of Sunnyvale.
As a young boy, Mike always set the example for his younger brothers, Joe and John. He was brilliant, hard-working, and skilled, recently completing a full kitchen renovation at home. He was kind and sincere, but above all, had a quiet and calming presence. He was much admired and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues. Always seemingly understated, he disarmed people with his quick wit and razor sharp dry humor, cleverly delivering the unexpected.
Mike met his best friend and the love of his life, Vicki Yoschak, in 1992 at Wilcox High in Santa Clara, where they both played in the marching band. They began dating in 1993 and were married on Sept. 2, 2000. As a pair, they excelled. Many found themselves at a loss when challenging these two at Pictionary!
Mike completed his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2000 at San Jose State University, despite being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1999. He endured rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and a bone marrow transplant. In 2001, he succeeded and was declared cancer free. The following year, he earned an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He worked at Exar Corp. in Fremont from 2002-2012 as a computer hardware design engineer and chip designer, and in the same capacity at Altera Corp. in San Jose from 2012-2013.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Vicki; his loving parents, Anthony and Pamela Lombardo of Sunnyvale; his grandmothers, Sarah Lombardo of Lafayette and Teri Bertram of San Jose; brother Joseph Lombardo (Kelly) & nephews Samuel and Benjamin of Littleton, CO; brother John Lombardo of Redwood City; uncles & aunts Salvatore & Virginia Lombardo and Gerry & Ann Harrison; many cousins and nephews; and his biggest fan, Cheeto the cat.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Pleasanton's St. Augustine Catholic Church on Thursday, Sep. 26 at 10:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow at the Wedgewood Wedding & Banquet Center in San Ramon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society or Habitat for Humanity East Bay in honor of Michael Lombardo.
