Rosie Daley Obituary

Rosie Bell Carroll Daley

Resident of Campbell

Born February 11, 1935 during the Great Depression to Joseph and Gertie Lee Carroll in the backcountry of Rosepine, Louisiana, Rosie was quickly diagnosed with an incurable lung disease, predicting a short lifespan. What Doctor's could not predict was her immense will and resilience.

A move to Ft.Worth, Texas during high school found Rosie working as a restaurant manager to help support her family. Marrying in 1960, Rosie moved to California and managed the Awful Fresh MacFarlane's Candies stores in San Jose for several years. When her dreams of motherhood were answered, Rosie changed careers and worked in the R&D/Engineering Departments of Measurex Corp. Eventually, lung disease complications forced her into early retirement allowing her to devote time to help raise her beloved grandson, Brandon.

Despite the distance from her biological family, she found new roots in the California Daley family as beloved Aunt Rosie. Rosie devoted herself to her new families' interests and events, but never forgot her southern roots.

Far outliving her Doctor's childhood predictions, Rosie passed away on May 14, 2012, at 77.

Rosie is survived by her devoted son Michael Daley (Kaisha); her beloved grandson Brandon Daley; Brother Charlie Carroll, of Ft. Worth, TX; Brother-In Law Dan Daley (Claudia) of Santa Clara; Sister-In-Law, Bonnie Brew (Patrick) of Beaverton, OR; Nephew Brian Daley of Santa Clara; Nieces: Lisa Markusen (Will) of Portland, OR; Catherine Cain (Matt) of Pleasant Hill; Kelly Werle (Adam) of San Jose. And former husband Jack Daley of San Jose. She also leaves behind her much loved family in Louisiana, and Texas. She is predeceased by her parents, and brother, Melvin Carroll.

A memorial of life will be celebrated this Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:00AM in the new Worship center of Westgate Church, 1735 Saratoga Ave., San Jose, CA 95129, 408-252-3700, www.westgatechurch.org.

Rosie will return to Rosepine, Louisiana for burial next to her mother and father.

Rosie, my dear cousin, you are missed. We had a wonderful Memorial Service for you yesterday (10/20/2010) at Rosepine. I think you would have appreciated all the family that turned out. You would be especially proud of Brandon and his eulogy of his grand mother. He had the pleasure of putting your ashes in the ground. Missing you very much. Arvis & Darlene Foshee

I miss you tremendously, Aunt Rosie. You are an amazing woman who will continue to influence my life in many ways. The example you set by how you lived your life, loved your family, treated others, and embraced life to the fullest will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for being the warm, gooey center of the Daley clan--we will miss you. I will love you always and promise to carry around and keep alive the incredible stories of your childhood and life. Rest in peace and I hope the air and ease of breathing up in Heaven is everything you ever dreamed of. Love you, Catherine.
