Virginia Fujihara Obituary

Virginia (Ginny) Lassins Fujihara
June 2, 1955 - January 15, 2017
Resident of San Jose
Ginny Lassins Fujihara was born in Buffalo, New York, and passed away peacefully without pain with family and friends at her bedside. She fought a courageous battle against metastatic lung cancer, diagnosed in Sept. 1, 2015.
She was preceded by her parents Edgar and Jeanne (Hill) Lassins and her in-laws Kenneth and Lois Fujihara. Surviving her are husband Alan, sons: Andrew, Jeffrey, and constant companion JT (dog); brother Robert Lassins; sister Christina (Pete) Rothenbach; sister-in-law Karen (Edward) Toguchi; niece Cynthia (Dwayne) Bublitz; nephews Sean (Shima) Toguchi and Perrin Lassins; and great nieces Kirsten and Faith Bublitz.
Besides being a loving wife and mother Ginny was a dedicated career nurse. She graduated from Germantown Dispensary and Hospital (diploma program) in Phila., Pa (1976) and earned her BSN (1994) and MSN (1999) from San Jose State University.
She worked nationally as a traveling nurse in Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, San Diego, UCSD Hospital. Locally, Ginny was primarily employed for many years by the San Jose Medical Group (Lincoln and Regional Branches).
Ginny had a passion for life and always said… "its' more about the journey. And do more of what makes you happy." Her life reflected her philosophy as she volunteered at: Rock Medicine (many years and Super Bowl XV), Rural Area Medicine Events (Oakland and Coachella); youth soccer referee; cub scout master; boy scout camp nurse; and US Open Golf Tournament Marshall 2014. She loved skiing, dancing, partying, camping, traveling, blues music, good wine and food, and especially hanging out with long connected friends on both coasts.
Celebration of Ginny's life will be on February 5, 2017, 11am at Ses Hall, 1375 Lafayette St., Santa Clara, 95050 and in April in San Diego. Casual attire requested.

My condolences to family and friends.

When I think of beautiful Ginny I will smile as I picture her in her leather jacket with her scrubs and her fun personality saying "hey T"! I will remember the funny story she told me about how she came up with her email address :) and her dancing! I worked with her many years ago and there was never a dull moment. Rest in love and peace Ginny. Condolences to her family.

I am so grateful that I was able to spend some time with Ginny the last month and a half before she passed! We were friends for 21 years! She trusted me to babysit her precious children when they were little. I have so many memories of her and I will miss my funny party pal! Always in my heart, Ginny! Prayers and hugs go out to Alan, Drew and Jay, she loved you more than words!

May God provide peace to your family. San Jose Medical Group had the wonderful opportunity to have you as you offered so many services. Your knowledge and expertise was a great benefit to them and to all who knew you. Your patients will always be grateful for what a great advocate you were to them. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

We met Ginny only about 22 years ago and enjoyed knowing her tremendously.
She was always a happy, positive type person. We need more of her kind.

Ginny dear I miss you. I'm so sad we only managed to see each other a couple of times since I moved from San Diego. Your energy, laughter and warmth lit up the room.
I will always cherish my memories of the fun we had at G-Town both in and outside the dorms! The ultimate Toga Party in that great apartment.
You and Alan were so nice to us when we moved to San Diego. I'm happy you had such a wonderful husband and 2 wonderful sons.
I offer my prayers to Alan, Drew and Jay and the rest of your wonderful family.
