Ann Camarota Obituary

Ann A. (Valentino) Camarota, of Marlborough, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, at the home of her daughter, after a brief illness with her family at her side. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who Ann had touched in some small way throughout her very memorable life. Ann was born Dec. 7, 1922, to Raymond and Anna Valentino, and led a full, rich life until her death. She grew up in New York and Connecticut, attending Hamden High. Ann found and married her soul mate, the boy next door, Anthony R. Camarota, who died in 1971. Ann is survived by her sister, Beverly Swan of Connecticut; one son, three daughters and their spouses, David and Janet Camarota of Missouri, Ann and Kenneth Ferguson of Natick, with whom she most recently lived, Karen and David Shepard of Florida, and Susan and Ronald Benway of Marlborough. She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. They were all the light of her life as she would say everyday. Ann also leaves behind her friend of many years, Patricia Pazzaneze of Marlborough. From a young age, Ann was always a high energy person who loved adventures and trying new things. She went camping and hiking when involved with the Boy and Girl Scouts of America program, she would never say no, whether it was an invitation for a road trip to Canada, a hot air balloon ride or parasailing in her 70s. Ann gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved to sit and read, play games and watch TV with those she loved so much. She could spend hours just sitting in her favorite chair listening to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren talk about their day and dreams. She also loved good food and socializing and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. In addition to spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ann enjoyed spending time at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. Ann also enjoyed shopping for her family, cooking, sewing and talking current events. Ann was predeceased by her brother Raymond, and sisters, Theresa, Frances and Dolores. Relatives aand friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday, July 19, at 8:15 a.m., at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common), Natick, followed by her Mass of Christian burial at St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. Those wishing to remember Ann may do so through memorial donations to Special Olympics, 512 Forest St., Marlborough, MA 01752 (www.specialolympicsma.org).
