GIBSON STATION — Rodney Zane Tyler, 85, of Gibson Station, Virginia passed away on March 8, 2018. Born on October 28, 1932 to the late Fred Tyler and Mossie Graham Tyler, Rodney was a 1952 graduate of Flatwoods High School. After high school he joined the Air Force and served honorably until 1956.
Mr. Tyler worked for the Harris Oil Company until his retirement in 1985. He was active in the Lions Club and the First United Methodist Church of Harrogate, TN. Mr. Tyler was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Tyler Haslam, brother Stanley Graham Tyler, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Coleman Tyler; grandson Tyler Haslam, granddaughter-in-law Marla Haslam, and great-grandsons Will Haslam and Luke Haslam of Fort Benning, GA; brother Reed Tyler and wife June Tyler of Verona, KY; and surrogate son Steve Middleton of Ewing, VA.
Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2018 at Creech Funeral Home in Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, 2018, at 2pm at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Alex Graham presiding. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Harlan County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 1-2pm on Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Creech Funeral Home.

I'm very sorry to hear of Rodney's passing, he was a great guy. I got to know him when I joined the Lions Club and enjoyed his humor at the meetings. I worked with Lois as well and know Rodney was everything to her. Lois please accept my condolences and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

We will always remember the warm welcome from Rodney and Lois when we moved from Illinois to become their neighbor. Rodney was always happy and cheerful. We remember him with loving memories.
