Thomas J. Rys, Sr. of Tyngsboro, MA, loving companion of Claire Haynes of 30 years, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was born in Middletown, Connecticut, son of the late Stanley J. Rys and Irene (Klimek) Rys. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1964. He was an Air Force Veteran and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War era. After a long career in computer programming and electronic engineering, he retired in 2014. He enjoyed spending time at the Tyngsboro Sportsmen's Club. He liked hunting, fishing, time with his family, cooking, walks, yearly Cape Cod vacations, playing his guitar, and great conversations. He is survived by his sister Carol and her husband Attorney John M. Wabiszczewicz of Middlebury, CT. His children Thomas J. Rys, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Chester, NH. Kelly Boyd of Lowell, MA, Tammy and her husband Chris Carriere of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren, Nicholas Boyd of Lowell, Joshua Carriere of Nashua, and Abbigail and Annabelle Rys of Chester, NH as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be held at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 79 South Main Street, Middletown, on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with a mass to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown immediately following.
