William Pillarella Obituary

Pillarella, Sr., William A.
Age 73, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on April 12, 2021 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain, CT. Billy, as he was known to family and friends, was born on April 7, 1948 in Middletown, CT to Mary (Thomas) Pillarella and Daniel J. Pillarella, Sr. He was a graduate of Middletown High School in 1966. He then attended Middlesex Community College. Billy began his career with the City of Middletown with the Parks and Recreations Dept. and later moved on to work at the Board of Education. His career with the City of Middletown lasted 38 years. He also served two terms as a Democrat on the Town Council. Billy was happily married to the love of his life Janet (Zigman) Pillarella for almost 48 years. They had two children together, William A. Pillarella (deceased) and Alicia Pillarella-Moscaritolo. To know Billy was to love him. He had a huge heart and would do anything for his friends and family. His smile was infectious and you could hear his laugh from miles away! He was an avid Yankees fan and could always be seen wearing a NY Yankees ball cap on his days off or during his retirement.
Billy is survived by his wife Janet, his daughter Alicia, his grandchildren; Marisa Moscaritolo, Dante Moscaritolo, Devon Moscaritolo, and Tailan Moscaritolo. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Mary Ann, Daniel Sr., John, and Frank. Billy touched many lives with his generosity and his passion for life and he will be greatly missed. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private at the discretion of the family. I was in Billy's graduating class at MHS 1966. Even though we have lost touch over the years, the mere mention of his name brings a smile. I remember him as fun loving, kind, and a good friend. He was always willing to listen to a friend. He was a member of a great group of guys. Life was good. Good bye old friend. Rest in peace.

My sophomore year at MHS was dominated by two people. Wano Filback because I went out for football and Billy Pillarella who drove a four-door Ford Station wagon who I met when I made the team. He was always smiling and we made friends immediately. Went to many drive-in movies in that station wagon with Billy, Mike Mastergeorge, Jimmy Gorman, and Bruce Le Doux. I am so sad to hear of the passing of such a fun-loving character and friend.

Janet and Family,
My heart is saddened to hear of the passing of Billy. He was my friend, Mentor and go to guy when I needed advice as a Politician or friend. I enjoyed our phone conversations from time to time and me trying to get Janet and Billy to come visit us in Florida (I knew he wouldn't budge) but I had fun just trying. Thanks for all the good times Billy, I have you to thank for so much in my life and my family.
See you on the other side my Brother, Rest in Peace.
May the good Lord be with the family at such a time as this.

Our loving daughter and grandchildren are holding me together, it’s so very hard to say goodbye to the man I love. God Bless You and may you Rest In Peace now. Until we meet again... Dad.. you have always been my person.. you taught me everything.. how to paint, mow a lawn, seal a driveway, fix broken things around the house, how to check my oil, even though I never do lol.. and you taught me how to cook. I’ll never share your sauce recipe I promise!! But most of all you taught me how to fight and be strong. I will never forget our lunch dates and when you bought me my first pair of Nikes after mom said no! Enjoy your time now with BJ and tell him how much I love and miss him and with your brothers and sister and with Nunu and Pop. Knowing you’re all together gives me peace. I love you old man, and I miss you with my entire soul.. until we meet again Daddy
