Ellen Levesque Obituary
Worcester - Ellen (Friel) Levesque, 45, of Worcester, died peacefully but unexpectedly Saturday, December 13, 2014, in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband, Peter S. Levesque Jr., her two sons, Garrett Francis Levesque and Brett Charles Levesque. Ellen also leaves her parents, David J. and Sheila A. (Joyce) Friel, two brothers, David M. Friel and his wife Mary Beth (Aiello) Friel, James Friel and his wife Joanne (Halverson) Friel, her sister, Mary (Friel) Daniel and her husband James. Ellen also leaves her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter S. Levesque Sr. and Joan (Lovett) Levesque, a brother-in-law, Thomas Levesque and his wife Kelly, and two sisters-in-law, Jeannine Souza and her husband Sean, and Loretto White and her husband Douglas. Ellen is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews; Melissa Peters and her husband Ben, Kristin Bohall and her husband Jonathan, Robert, Cameron, Francesca, Erica, Daniel, Jackson, Michael, Will, Connor, Catherine, and Charles, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ellen was born in Worcester and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Burncoat High School, class of 1987. While in high school, Ellen received a scholarship to attend the Geoffrey School of Ballet in New York City. She also attended the Gregory Hines School of Dance, which contributed to her ability to dance for Walt Disney World in Florida. Locally, she attended the Paula Zawalich and Diane Kelley Dance Studios. She loved to dance and was also dedicated to the well being of children, which lead to her Career as a Pre-Instructional Assistant at the Belmont Street Community School where she has been employed for the last 20 years. Ellen loved being with children. She enjoyed going to her sons' sporting events, and enjoyed music. Her most treasured times were those spent with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Ellen was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, and was also a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary 25, Fales Street. Visiting hours with the family will be on Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM in the Mercadante Funeral Home. Interment will be in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria,VA. 22312. Remembering Ellen is like a breath of fresh air. She was so sweet, caring, and always concerned about other's welfare, especially her children who certainly emanate her grace and love. I recently learned that Brett is teaching at Burncoat High School, which was heartwarming on so many levels, most of all to know that he is carrying on the legacy of the family by entering the field of education where both of his parents have made such a huge difference in so many, many lives of the children in our community. Burncoat High holds many special memories for me from when I worked there and I am happy the school has been able to retain such a talented and dedicated young man to carry the torch. Ellen gave Brett the gift of love for giving and caring and though she is sorely missed, her light continues to shine.

It was abundantly obvious today at the funeral that Ellen's life was one to be celebrated, and it was done so with as much honor, grace, and beauty as I have ever witnessed or experienced before. I was so deeply moved and affectd by the music, the eulogies, the blessings and prayers, the family's strength, and Garrett's amazing tribute to his mother. Thank you for allowing us all to be with you at this most difficult time, to share in the celebration of her wonderful life, and to be a part of her farewell. She will be greatly missed, but the essence of her spirit will linger with us for a long time to come.

I haven't seen Ellen in many years, but remember her fondly. She was my son and daughter's preschool teacher and to this day they both say she was one of their favorites. Always happy and smiling, she'll be remembered fondly. My heart goes out to her family during this sad time.

My heart is heavy as I heard the sad news of Ellen's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ellen for 15 yrs at Belmont st school. You could not find a nicer girl! We also both grew up dancing. Although we danced at different studios, we saw each other all the time at competitions and were thrilled to meet again at Belmont. I was always in awe at what a beautiful dancer she was!
