Verne Brown Obituary

Verne H. Brown, 85, of Franklin died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Nancy M. (Fawcett) Brown. Mr. Brown was the founder and owner of Crystal Industries Inc., a well respected swimming pool supply company in Bellingham for 65 years until his retirement in 2003. He had been a resident of Franklin for the past 24 years and had previously lived in Bellingham for 41 years. He was born February 24, 1928 in Rodman, NY the son of the late Howard Ralph Brown and Philena Celestia (Wright) Brown. Mr. Brown was a longtime volunteer firefighter for the town of Bellingham. He was a former treasurer for National Kitchen & Bath Assoc. and a past president of Union Cemetery Company of Bellingham. In addition to his wife Nancy of 64 years, Mr. Brown is survived by his sons Donald V. Brown and David H. and his wife Nancy E. Brown, all of Bellingham; his daughter Linda and her husband Warren Hafner of Franklin; two sisters Vivian Brown of TN, and Lois and her husband David Evans of Carlisle, PA; a brother-in-law Victor Degutis of TN; five grandchildren Kim, Cindy, Dan, Lisa, and Tina; seven great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Beth Degutis and a daughter-in-law Janice Brown. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 3013 at 11 AM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford, MA 01757. Visiting hours will be Friday from 9-11 AM prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery, Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Cemetery, Perpetual Care Fund, P.O. Box 175, Bellingham, MA. www.bumafuneralhome.com
