Kathy Southwick Wilkerson, 70, of Mediapolis passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, at the Global United Methodist Church in Mediapolis.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the Global Methodist Church in Mediapolis. The family encourages those in attendance to wear vibrant colors in memory of Kathy's vibrant spirit. A private interment will be held at later date.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Kathy.
Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Mediapolis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kathy was born Oct. 29, 1953, in Iowa City, the daughter of Dale and Rheta (Herring) Southwick. She graduated from Highland High School and from La James Cosmetology School. Kathy also went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was united in marriage to Rick Wilkerson on June 11, 1988, in Riverside.
Kathy was a devoted and talented hairdresser all of her life. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved to garden and tend to her tomato plants. She enjoyed camping, boating, sewing, and traveling in and out of the United States with her husband and friends.
She had a love for music and was always dancing and singing. Kathy cherished time spent with her family and loved attending her grandchildren's events. She also loved her cat, Louie, dearly.
Kathy was known to be the life of the party and you could feel the energy change when she walked into a room. She had a perpetual need to make a connection with everyone she met and valued her friendships.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Rick Wilkerson of Mediapolis; daughter, Amber (Mark) of Mediapolis; daughter, Taylor Wilkerson of Burlington; grandchildren, Shelby, Jackson, Madison, Sawyer and Jamey; grand dogs, Piper Jo and Luna; brother, Ron (Suzy) Southwick of North Liberty; and many other family members and very special friends.
She preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Southwick.
