Allan Jensen Obituary

Allan Preben Nygaard Jensen

April 25, 1931 - June 4, 2025

Allan died peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family on June 4, 2025 in Missoula at 94. He was the only child of Aksel Ove Nygaard and Lilli Ingeborg (Ronka) Jensen born on April 25, 1931 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He excelled in school and sports and developed many life-long friendships as a young man. He attended Schneeklooths Skole in Frederiksberg and was especially fond of math and science which ultimately led him to enroll at the Technical University of Denmark, where he received bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering.

During his school years, Allan met the love of his life, Tove Nohr Larsen. They married in Frederiksberg Kirke in a double ceremony with Tove's sister Elise marrying Ove Jorgensen. Their daughter Linda Nohr Jensen was born in Copenhagen on August 3, 1952.

In the late 1950's Allan, Tove, and Linda emigrated to Dallas, TX. Their son Tim Allan Nygaard Jensen was born in Dallas on October 18, 1961. The family traveled the world and lived full time again in Denmark on two occasions, but Dallas had become home.

Allan loved soccer. He played in his youth, began coaching kids in Texas, and started playing again in the late 1970's. He became one of the early members of the North Dallas 40 soccer team and later served as a commissioner in the league. He played with ND40 until his 80's when his legs had finally run and kicked the ball enough. He loved his teammates and continued to support and socialize with them until the end. They will tell you that Allan never gave up on running again and rejoining the team.

Allan and Tove enjoyed playing bridge and traveling regularly to Denmark, Italy, and the rest of Europe. Sadly, Allan became a widow too soon when Tove died in 1998. He was helped through this by his kids and extended family, as well as his soccer family. In 2001 his firm InterConsult merged with Dallas based engineering and architectural firm Halff Associates. He loved his colleagues and took great pride in working there. Allan retired from Halff in his early 80's, but continued to work with his son Tim.

In 2023 Allan moved from Dallas to be close to Tim and his wife Victoria in her beautiful hometown Missoula. He also had granddaughter Skylar and grandson Tommy nearby and a few dozen of Victoria's (Worden and Caswell) family. His ND40 soccer family even extended to Big Fork and Kalispell, MT. Allan was encircled by loved ones in Montana, Texas, and Denmark. Allan is survived by his daughter Linda, her husband Dee Chase in Atlanta, and Linda's daughters Tove and Tess, as well as his son Tim and Victoria (Worden), and their children Kirsten (and Philip Vuksic in Copenhagen), Haley (and Jody Bridges in San Benito, TX), Skylar (and Hannah Harlow), and Tommy. Allan is also survived by five great grandchildren as well as his wife Tove's sisters Elise and Margit in Denmark, their children, and extended family.

Allan trusted the best in people and was an eternal optimist. The day before he died, Allan told Tim "jeg har det godt." I have it good. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. If you didn't know Allan, we hope that you know someone just like him. And if you did know Allan, please raise a glass for him and toast, "Skål Allan!"

Allan is an inspiration to us all. Playing soccer & working into his 80´s allowed us to enjoy our time with him longer. Great engineering & soccer mind! We all miss Allan. This is a wonderful tribute Tim!

A great friend, teammate, who would always laugh a bad jokes when no one else would.
The world is a drearier place for his passing.
Allan,
I hope that Heaven has a nice, green, level field where we can all meet up and kick it around again some day. If Bud doesn´t bring the PBR, I will.
Ben Davis.
