Anita McFarland Obituary

Anita Correne McFarland
June 4, 1937 - July 6, 2015
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Anita McFarland, passed away at home on Monday, July 6th, 2015. Anita Correne was born on June 4th, 1937, the forth of eight children to loving parents Carmel (Carl) Guadalupe Sanchez and Teresita (Theresa) Consourcia Lucero in Mosquero, New Mexico. She is survived by siblings Mary Black, Tony Sanchez, Patsy Sanders and Gertie Powers. Preceding her in death are her parents and siblings Carmel Jr. (Sonny), Lucy Abata and Roberta Jean who died in infancy.
As a child, Annie, as she was called by her immediate family all her life, lived in Park City, Bingham, Carfork, and Salt Lake City, Utah as well as Butte, Montana.
In 1958, while living in Salt Lake City as a young mother of three small children and another on the way, she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many, many callings within the LDS Church and possessed a deep and profound testimony of its truth.
Anita married her beloved husband, Gary Paul McFarland on December 27th, 1960. They were sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple on October 22, 1997, and together reared a "yours, mine and ours" family of twelve children.
In 1971, she and her family came to Modesto then moved to Harlan, Iowa in 1978. They were then thrilled to return to California in 1986, first living in Modesto once again, then in Oakdale, Turlock, and finally Merced, their home for the past seven years.
Our wonderful wife and mother was beautiful both inside and out. She had a beautiful smile and her generosity and love knew no bounds. She could grow anything, cook anything, created the best Halloween costumes by the dozens and was always happy to serve others.
Anita is survived by Gary McFarland, her wonderful and devoted husband of fifty five years, and by their children Debra Verdusko, Susan Kelly (husband Sean), Steven (wife Christy), Kevin (wife Laura), Wyndel Worthen (husband Keith Fagan), Collin, Corrie Chilton (husband Jeff), Christina Coenen (husband Kelvin), JonPaul (wife Tammy), Justin (wife Cindy) and Nicholas. She is also preceded in death by her eldest son Danny Michael.
Anita is also survived by 47 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was beloved here on earth by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11th in the LDS Church at 1080 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. A viewing will be at 10:00am and chapel service at 11:00.

I have known Anita since JonPaul and Tammy got married and loved her since then. She was so kind and fun and loving. My condolences go out to the entire extended family, especially to Gary and to JonPaul who is my son in law and dearly loved as well. I pray Heavenly Father will take all of you in his arms and console you through this trying time. God bless.
