Modesto, California - Barbara June Goncalves passed away on January 31, 2025, at her home in Modesto, CA at the age of 91. Barbara was born on June 29, 1933, in Alameda, CA to parents, Lorenzo and Anita Kelton. She was married to the love of her life, Robert Goncalves, for 70 wonderful years and they had two children. Barbara was a librarian who enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and loved to travel.
Barbara loved to volunteer and help those in need and was very generous to various charities. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Robert Goncalves; her children, Patty Flemmer (Modesto) and Jim Goncalves (Los Banos); her grandchildren, Neil (Grass Valley) and Melissa (Lodi); and her five great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Brian (Tracy) and Michelle (Antioch); her parents, Lorenzo and Anita Kelton; and her siblings, Lois Rhodes (Modesto) and Rich Goncalves (Sebastopol).
There is a Memorial Service scheduled at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home (McHenry Chapel) on Friday, February 21, at 2 pm. Barbara's final resting place will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love donations to be made in Barbara's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
