Marvin Edwin Montgomery, M.D. died peacefully at age 91 on July 29, 2018. Marvin was born on February 27, 1927 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Marvin grew up desiring to follow his father's footsteps in ministry and obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Religion at Union College Nebraska in 1949. After several years of pastoral service, Marvin returned to school to obtain his Medical Doctorate at Loma Linda University in 1960 and pursued a life of medical ministry from which he retired in 1993. Marvin spent 27 years as Waterford's physician making house calls and care home visits, a routine part of his practice. Marvin obtained his pilot's license in 1968 and enjoyed the camaraderie of other pilots and the sense of freedom flying provided.
Marvin's passion for the outdoors was exhibited in his backpacking adventures to the highest peaks in California; his favorite destination was Cloud's Rest in Yosemite. Marvin's love of travel led him through Europe, Asia, Africa, and every state in America, yet, Yosemite remained Marvin's favorite destination. Marvin's had an unguenchable sense of humor, he was patient and generous with his time and talents.
Marvin loved the LORD with all his heart and was most grateful for the family He provided for him.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois; his daughter Shelly; his son Gregg (and wife Natalie); his grandchildren, Seth, Bryce, Hazen, Owyn, and Melissa; and his sister, Ann Perry.
Marvin was a devoted husband, father, friend, and neighbor and will be remembered as one of the kindest and gentlest of people.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sat., August 11, 2018 at 4:00pm at the Waterford Seventh Day Adventist church located at 13701 Yosemite Blvd., Waterford, California. All are welcome.
