Michael Winget Obituary

Michael Charles Winget
June 15, 1942 - Dec 8, 2014
Mike passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a 5 month battle with lung cancer.  Preceded in death by parents, Bette & George, and siblings, Linda & Bobby.  He is survived by his wife, Susan, and children, Sue Vidauri (Tina), Jeff Santos (Cindy), Rick Russell, Liz Jones, Lorie Stinson (Andrew) and grandchildren, Kasey Willingham, Ben Vidauri, Jared & Mike Santos, Anthony Teitsworth, Devin Briggs, Thierry Jones, Max Stinson and 4 great grandchildren.
Born in Oakland, in his mid teens he moved to Sacramento,  where he met Susan.  He worked in the automobile industry most of his life, including being co-owner of D&W Auto Wreckers. Changing careers in 1992, he became a truck driver and retired from Unified Grocers.
His love of cars and motorcycles stretched across his entire life.  He enjoyed riding his Harley on the many road trips taken with dear friends and family.  He liked history and had a plethora of uncanny knowledge in all subjects and trivia.  He was known as a talker, making friends with all who he met. He had an endearing quality that allowed you to talk about anything with him, and you'd always get his honest opinion.  He added levity to every situation with a funny remark or witty response.  There was always a smile to give, a laugh to share and a hug to leave you with
He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.  We love you dad.
Memorial Service:  Dec 20, 4pm, Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Sante Fe St, Riverbank, Ca

You are thought of often dad. Your tendencies have become mine in so many ways and it makes me smile when I realize how much I am like you. We all miss you so very much.

First off, I remember his mischievous smile, like when we'd catch him having a smoke in the garage. Mostly, though, I remember his unabashed love for his family, and his commitment to family; and how he welcomed all to his home.

A true-blue friend, a master of trivia, but not a trivial man. Mike had such a warm heart and warmed those around him. We will miss him always.
