Penny White Obituary

Penny Gail White
October 6, 1953 - April 28, 2017
There is a new star in the heavens.  Penny Gail White lived her life to the fullest. Caught up in her wake were many willing participants, especially the love of her life, Wendell, for their adventurous 32 years together.
Penny moved to Modesto in 1977,  where she quickly established herself as an entrepreneur as part owner of the Modesto Four-Wheel-Drive Shop on McHenry Ave.
She joined Modesto youth theater, cementing her place as a premier Modesto vocalist.
Her opera trained voice was equally at home singing either "Ave Maria", "Hello Dolly", or the Blues. She was a soprano with The Modesto Symphony master's choir, continuing even when her illness challenged her strength.
In the 80s, she joined the JB blues band, where she met her beloved husband, Wendell.
She brought her powerful vocals to many regional bands for more than 30 years as well as on the road with Wendell in their band "Quiver".
Penny fine-tuned her entrepreneurial skills running Teestoplease, a silkscreening business that she and Wendell owned for three decades.
Penny gave her time tirelessly to many local organizations including the Alzheimer's Association, and the Shadow Chase Running Club. Very special to her was the precious time she spent with her dearest Cancer Survivor friends.
As an outdoorsy and adventurous woman, she took her nieces and friends snow skiing, drove her Jeep in the high Sierras and participated in gold panning with Wendell.
She was a lover of animals, taking in strays at her shop and nursing them to health where they become shop mascots.
Penny acquired her pup, Jubie, after Wendell suddenly passed, bringing unwavering love and joy to her as well a playmate for the cats.
Penny showed extreme perseverance and continued to be selfless, despite her illness, whenever a friend was in need.
Her last months were spent with her husband Norman, who cared for her health, shared her love of music and gave her hope and inspiration to live life to the fullest in the face of her compromising illness.
Her memory is cherished, her talent envied and her boundless love of life an inspiration for us ever to seize the day.

To Penny
My dearest friend and wife. The pain I feel is always a reminder of how precious you are to me. It has been my greatest joy to know you, love you and be loved by you. We had hoped for a longer time together, but that was not to be. So, as you taught me, I will ever appreciate the blessings I have been given and the life that is bestowed me. I miss our intimate moments, your sweet kisses and your warm embrace. You shall ever dwell in my heart.
Your devoted husband....
