William Palmrose Obituary

William Cole "Bill" Palmrose
Apr. 11, 1940-Jul. 3, 2018
Bill was born and raised in Seaside, OR and lived in Modesto for 33 years. He is survived by sons Chris (Kelly) of Kingsland, GA, and Jeff (Tali) of West Sacramento, CA, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers Ernest (Mary) of Gearhart, OR and Ken (Kathy) of Meridian, ID. He is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Palmrose.
Bill graduated from Seaside High School and attended Willamette Univ. (Salem, OR). After marrying Betty, whom he met while attending Willamette, Bill was hired by Guy F. Atkinson Co. of South San Francisco and went to work on the Caldecott Tunnel project in Orinda, CA. During his time in the Bay Area, Bill was active in the Jaycees in Belmont, CA and Boy Scout Troop 27, establishing friendships that continue to this day. Bill's tenure with Atkinson required moving his young family to many jobs and western states. Bill retired after 40 years with Atkinson as a General Manager (Turlock, CA). He also held positions within Atkinson as Safety Supervisor for construction projects like New Melones Reservoir & Power Plant (Sonora, CA), Hanford Nuclear Waste Disposal Site (Richland, WA), and McPhee Dam (Dolores, CO). He was a member of several fraternal organizations, including the Modesto lodges of Moose and Elks, as well as the Brotherhood of E Clampus Vitus. Bill enjoyed playing golf, traveling to see family and friends, and the company of good people. Bill was known for his bark, but those who knew him well would admit there was no bite to the man. He will be missed by all who considered him a colleague and friend, like the Darius Ln. neighbors, ROMEOs at Perkos, and the gang at Donoby's. We will miss his fishing tales, his smile and his heartfelt concern for those he cared for. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Sep 9, at 1:00. Donoby's Bar & Grill 2401 E Orangeburg Ave., Modesto.
