Russell Cole Obituary

Russell Eric Cole was born on Oct. 28, 1969 in Monroe, Mich. He was one of three children, son of the late Donald Farris and Brenda (Sonnichsen) Cole-Farris. Russell attended Monroe Public Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1988.
For more than 20 years, Russell would work in the construction industry as a roofer. He loved working outside and, being a hard worker, he diligently applied his passion to his work. Russell was always willing to share and lend a helping hand to those in need. He provided and loved his daughter Chelsea Cole-Estes very much.
Russell enjoyed spending time with his father and brother, Michael, often traveling to watch the Red Wings play. Russell and Michael also enjoyed shooting guns and practicing their target skills.
He enjoyed taking road trips to Cedar Point whenever he had the chance. He loved music, watching REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Stevie Nicks, Deep Purple, White Snake, Bon Jovi, and Pat Benetar in concert were some of his favorite experiences.
Russell liked his snacks and he was never far from his beef jerky. He loved wrenching on cars and appreciated the opportunity to peruse flea markets looking for a cool find or to catch a great deal. His canine companions, London and Honey, were his very best of friends.
Russell Eric Cole, age 48, of Monroe passed away at 11:31 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania. His passing was preceded by his father.
To cherish his memory, Russell leaves a daughter, Chelsea (Jake) Estes of Monroe; his mother, Brenda Farris of Monroe; one brother, Michael (JoAnn) Cole of Mt. Lebanon, Penn.; one sister, Linda (Mitch) Steils of Ida; and three beloved grandchildren.
Friends may gather on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 N. Monroe St. (734) 384-5185. A celebration of his life will follow at 3:30 p.m., also at Merkle's, with Rev. Ted Kerr, pastor of Prince of Peace in Ida, officiating.
