Funeral services for 99-year-old Valora Dorothy Greseth will be at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church of rural Dawson, MN: Saturday, February 21, 2026. Visitation 12:00, Funeral 1:00pm.

Reverend Bryan Busche will officiate the service. Special music will be provided by daughter, Vicky Greseth, pianist.

Valora was born at home in the family farm house on March 13, 1926, to parents Frank and Alma (Rohloff) Schlieman of Holloway MN. She attended school through the 8th grade, and achieved her GED on July 21, 1971. She proudly stated, that she "passed all the tests in 1 day."

She was united in marriage to Verdie Greseth on November 8, 1947 in Fairfield MN. To this union four children were born. Val and Verdie lived together on the same farm land for 67 years, and she continued to live on this farm, after his death, until the age of 92.

Val was passionate about the upkeep of the yard, where not a leaf, feather, pine cone could be found. She took great pride in her daily hard work ethics, whether in the home, on the land, or in her employments. As a matter of fact, at age 92 she sawed down a tree across the road, because "it was blocking her view of the lake." She was known for her "eye for perfection".

She often reflected on her employment at MTI factory in Montevideo MN, where she operated a deburring machine, doing the finishing on airplane parts. She reflected on the 'rush-orders', when her boss would say: "I'll get my 'Ace' on it right away". That was Mom, of course.

Her joys in life included her fancy roller skating skills, dancing, and playing baseball with her brothers!

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Randall, husband Verdie (2015), 4 brothers, 1 sister, 4 sisters in law, and 2 sons in law Harvey Torkelson and Dave Scherman.

Valora is survived by her 3 daughters: CinDee (Harvey, dec) Torkelson, Vicky (John Knotz) Greseth, Barb (Dave, dec) Scherman. 6 grandchildren: Shannon, Joe, Leslie, Reed, Kayleena, Cameron. 12 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Sierra, Kennedy, Reegan, Ryder, Wyatt, Brooklyn, Olivia, Emily, Evelyn, Aubrielle, Sawyer. 1 great-great grandchild: Alia. 1 brother Harold Schlieman.

Casket bearers: grandsons Joe Drealan, Reed Lundy, Cameron Knotz; nephew John Schlieman; friends Shane Gilbertson, Dallas Kelly.

The concluding service and burial will be held at the church cemetery. Lunch will be provided in church basement. Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison MN, is in charge of arrangements.
