Ruth Harris Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Ann McFadden Harris, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama expired on July 10, 2017 at the age of 60. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 15,2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Newtown Church of Christ, 1709 North Decatur Street. She was born on June 30, 1957 and was the second of three daughters born to Roosevelt and Iolean McFadden. She was educated in the New York, Connecticut and Alabama Public School Systems. Mrs. Harris confessed Christ at an early age and in 1988 was added to the Newtown Church of Christ by the late Brother Charlie Chapman. She was employed by John Knox Manor as a Registered Nurse. She leaves to mourn one son, John Henry Harris, Prattville, AL; and two sisters, Joan and Carol McFadden, Montgomery/ Prattville, AL; also mourning are niece, Joni Cook and nephew, Willie McFadden, Montgomery, AL; as well as several devoted friends and church family. A special thank you to Dr. Santhi Das, Selma, AL; the medical team of Chennai, lndia, the Baptist South Medical personnel and the staff at Ross-Clayton Funeral Home.

Ruth McFadden was as wonderful a person as you would run across. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, watching basketball, and sewing into people's lives. How do I know? Because she was my mother. I miss you dearly mama and you are with me wherever I go. Until we see each other again...

I am so incredibly saddened to hear of Sister Harris' passing. I knew her from Newtown Church of Christ. Back then I was a young college student and she was gracious enough to allow me to stay with her for a few days. I remember her smile, her wit, her tell it like it is personality, she was so fun to be around. I will always remember her kindness. Thinking her family during this difficult time.

I knew Ruth and her sisters personally, growing up in Victor Tulane Court together and I tell you that she was the same beautiful person as a child and young lady as she was an adult. She always told it like it was and as her co workers said, that million dollar smile and laugh was so infectious. Ruth made it easy to love her and she will dearly be missed. Looking at her picture really make me remember those younger days. John Henry, Joan and Carol (and other family and friends) you all are in my prayers. Psalm 23

Ruth will be missed in a way that I can not put into words. I worked with her at Medicaid and she filled my life with joy and laughter. She was such a bright light, a giving person, loved life, and always was lifter to you Spirit. I will miss her SMILE and her million dollar Laugh but I know that I will see it again. I worked with Ruth at Medicaid and have missed her so much. Her office was next to mine and we would laugh everyday. She made the day better every day just seeing her happy face.

Ruth, a very dear friend of mine since Elementary School. We were in plays together: one play was entitled, "A Snug in a Bug in a Rug". We were editors and published the newspaper in Jr. High School. We had loads of fun at games in High School. We lived together for awhile and Ruth told me what I should & shouldn't do. Ruth was a great speaker, intelligent, smart; and, no one could ever change her mine. As adults, we shopped, talked and had lunches together. I will miss Ruth dearly. Yet, I have great memories and cherish our laughter, especially when we talked about the boys that volunteered to be paddled in our place when we talked too much in school.
Ruth taught Sunday School and shared scripture with me frequently. I have joy in knowing that Ruth and I will praise Jesus together again. My condolences to John Henry, Joan and Carol. You are all my family. Remember and hold on to the goodness that flowed from Ruth's heart. Rest in knowing that Ruth is peacefully sleeping in the bosom of Christ. We will see Ruth again! I love you, Ruth, and I will miss ya! And, I love you - John Henry, Joan and Carol. I am a phone call away to listen and reminisce of the good times!
