Don Cox Obituary

Don Cox, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away on Feb. 26, 2016. He was born on July 30, 1933 in Moore County, son of the late Herman and Edna Phelps Cox. He was a retired supervisor for Sanford Pencil Cor-poration, was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his niece, Shelby Jean Steelman, and brothers-in-law, Fred Steelman and Walter D. Steelman. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Louise Cox; brother-in-law, Thomas Morgan Steelman; nephews, Jerry Steelman, Ray Steelman and Bruce Steelman; cousin, Jane Bedford; great-niece, Samantha Steelman; great nephews, Brice Steelman, Greg Steelman, Bradley Steelman, Brian Steelman, Charles Steelman and Paul Steelman; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Hopkins officiating. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
