Johnnie Kenneth Murray, 73, of Shelbyville. Funeral service for Johnnie Kenneth Murray will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Mark Pierce officiating and daughter Anita Epperson speaking. Burial will follow in the Mount Herman Cemetery. Mr. Murray passed from this life Monday, Aug. 15 at Tennova Healthcare surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday, Aug. 18 at the funeral home. A native of Bedford County, Mr. Murray was born March 31, 1943 to the late Johnnie Ralph Murray and the late Daisy Wrather Murray. Mr. Murray was a member of the Church of Christ and was employed in auto parts sales and repair at Automotive Parts and Service, J.B Cook, O'Riley's Auto Parts, GRC Ford Tractor and Twin Fountains raceway, and worked for grounds crew at Willow Mount Cemetery. He was also a member of Farm Bureau and a volunteer at MTSNC. He enjoyed farming, automobiles, animals, watching baseball and collecting pocket knives. He loved his family and friends; he will be missed by all who knew him especially his dog, Willy. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Geneva Cunningham Murray; daughter, Lorri Anita Murray (Rick) Epperson of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Nathan and Matthew Epperson; sister, Cathy McCart of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews; and great- nieces and nephews.
