Dennis Pastron

1951 - 2017

Dennis Pastron found peace on June 14, 2017, at home while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice and his loving wife. Dennis was born on December 5, 1951 in Lorain Ohio to Charles and Norma (Saladin) Pastron.
Dennis attended school in Lorain until his parents moved to Amherst in the mid 60's. He graduated from Marion L. Steele in 1970. While there, he excelled in football and track. He attended Wilmington College where he continued to play football, and later transferred to the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
Dennis was a carpenter by trade and over the years, worked for several area builders and had his own remodeling business. He was last employed by the City of Lorain in the Building Department of Community Development as a inspector and a spec writer for rehab housing. He retired from the City in November of 2014 with 18.5 years of service. He and his wife owned Catherine's Chocolates where Dennis could be found cleaning strawberries, packing boxes or running quality control. His favorite times were spent doing Christmas deliveries with his father-in-law, Paul Tomasic, and working along side his wife, Catherine.
Dennis was actively involved in his sons' sports participation. He helped coach for Lorain Youth Baseball and Lorain Catholic 7th and 8th grade football. When not coaching, he and Cathy could be found at every home and away game cheering on Matthew and Bryan. His joy was watching his sons play, but even greater to watch them grow and become the fine young men they are today.
Dennis's pastime took him over the "pond" where he developed a love of British cars. Over the years, a few came and went, but his 74 TR6 BC was his baby. The BC meant "before Cathy", purchasing the car in 1977 and still having it today. He, along with a number of other enthusiasts, started the LoCo Brits Car Club, where all things British were welcomed and encouraged to participate in shows, drives, and club get- togethers. Over the years, the "red car" allowed Dennis and Cathy to meet and develop friendships that are still a part of their lives today. Those friends and memories were very important to him, and their support and love through his illness were unwavering. Dennis and Cathy both enjoyed traveling, visiting London, Paris, and Italy, and sipping wine at local wineries with friends.
Dennis will forever be remembered for his kindness and compassion. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He would be the first to lend a hand when needed and the last to leave. He lead by example, being an excellent father, husband and friend. His actions were quiet, not seeking accolades, but self satisfaction in knowing the good things he had done.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife and ""other half"" of 38 years, Catherine (Tomasic), son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lauren Pastron, of Avon Lake, son and fiancé, Bryan Pastron and Megan Teter, of Lorain, and two adoring granddaughters; Madison and Brooklyn Pastron, who were the light of their Papa's eye. In addition, he is survived by his sisters; Nadine Gonzalez, of Lorain, Diana Garno and Donna Wade, both of Canada, as well as other family members; Linda Rosser, John Rosser, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Norma Pastron, in-laws, Paul and Joan Tomasic, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Friends may call Monday, June 19th, from 4-8pm, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd, Amherst, OH. A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 20th, at St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd, Avon, OH. Please meet at the church. The Rev. Fr. Tom Cleaton, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be private and held at a later date.
