Benny FISHMAN Obituary
Benny Fishman, beloved husband of Rosa Fishman, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 25, 2013 in Calgary. Benny will be lovingly missed by his children, Sheldon (Tasha), Courtenay, and Tanis. He will always be remembered by his adoring grandchildren: Jack, Rex, and Ramone. He is also survived by his sister, Jessie Silver of Toronto and brother, Sam Fishman (Ruth), of Calgary, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nephews and numerous cousins. Benny was predeceased by his parents Jack (1980) and Lily Fishman (2000). He was a loving and devoted son. Born at home on January 12, 1943, Benny grew up surrounded by the extended Switzer Family. Benny earned the respect of Calgary's business community as owner of Fishman's Personal Care Dry Cleaners for over 60 years, formerly Economy Cleaners which was started by his father Jack in Inglewood, and is now in its third generation under son and current owner, Sheldon Fishman. Benny always had a professional approach when it came to his business and his valued customers. Benny was an active member and past President of The Alberta Dry Cleaners Association and he was recently recognized as the first official "Chickmagnet" for his volunteer efforts on behalf of Calgary's Chickwagon Foundation for Women. Benny was a strong supporter and volunteer of the I.L. Peretz School. Benny most of all loved his children, grandchildren, his family, and his retirement home in Mexico. Benny was a soft spoken man who was admired for his honesty and integrity. Our deepest appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Elijah Dixon, Dr. Jacob Easaw, and Dr. Marcy Mintz at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Walter Moscovitz for always being on-call. Funeral services will take place Monday, January 28, 2013 at Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1325 Glenmore Trail S.W. at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at the Erlton Street Jewish Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by McInnis and Holloway (403) 243-8200, and the Chevra Kadisha (403) 244-4717.

We just learned of Benny's death after being away from Calagry for a few months. We are very sorry that Calgary has lost such a very fine gentleman. It was always enjoyable to drop into Fishman' s with shirts for laundering and to know that they would be done to perfection. Benny's style.
