Died: January 21, 2018; in Marseilles, IL
Billie Ray Blue, 91, of Marseilles, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles with military honors.
Bill was born November 3, 1926 in Ottawa, to Harvey Thurber and Viola (Gowen) Blue. On June 22, 1947, he married Melba Ruth Combs of Marseilles, who preceded him in death in 2002. He was employed by Libbey-Owens-Ford for over 30 years until his retirement. Bill was a master mechanic and could always be found in his garage working on somebody's something. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, NASCAR, NHRA, and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his children, Dianne (Scott) Breslar of Morris, Terry (Mary Kelley) Blue of Marseilles, Ruth (Mark) Miller of Fort Worth, TX, and Barth Cunico, his pseudo son, who was with Bill every day; five grandchildren, Geoffrey (Anne) Thorsen, Aja (Cat) Blue-Perez, Dustin (Sarah) Blue, Shelby Miller, and Morgan Miller; three great-grandchildren, Lily, Ezra, and Raegan; three sisters, Helen Koltoka of Braidwood, Viola Mosier of Seneca, and Violet Schockey of Seneca; one brother, Chuck Blue of Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a granddaughter, Kelsey Blue; siblings, Harvey, Wanda, Randal, Dan, Robert, Walter "Toad", and Richard; and a daughter-in-law, Mary King Blue.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Blue, Mike Smith, Joey Girot, Rodney Morello, Tim Cappellini, and Mike Perona.
